Brian McClure
Founder; President & CEO
Brian is an entrepreneur and corporate director with extensive international business experience in corporate finance and investment banking, management consulting, and general management in Europe, North America, and the Far East. His clients have included startup ventures to Fortune 500 companies and international development institutions.
He has held several senior corporate Board of Director positions, including as a Member of the Board and Corporate Finance Director of a London, UK-based consortium investment bank and as a Member of the Board and President of a Boston-based strategic consulting firm in a partnership between the bank and a senior faculty member of Harvard Business School.
During this period, Brian was an international bank delegate at the IMF/World Bank Annual Meetings in Washington, D.C., and the developer and co-chair of the inaugural Global Agribusiness Session at the World Economic Forum Annual Summit in Davos, Switzerland. He has also served as a management secondment to the Korea Development Bank in Seoul, South Korea.
His general management and consulting experience includes startup angel financing & venture capital funding of innovative products from ideation-to-market, distressed company restructuring and “turn-rounds”, ownership transitions, and managed liquidations. Industry sectors include, among others, green technology & power systems, airport security systems, biotechnology, agribusiness and food processing.
An alumnus of the Schulich School of Business, York University, Toronto, and the Cornell School of Engineering, Cornell University, Ithaca N.Y., Brian has a strong grasp of business fundamentals and has increasingly specialized in Enterprise Risk Management & Business Performance and New Product System Design & Project Leadership, with an emphasis on lean and agile startup innovation and new product development in a variety of sectors, including emerging enterprise technologies.
Brian is a passionate local community advocate and volunteer who has served as a member of the Council and Chair of the Board of Trustees of Ralph Connor Memorial United Church and as the Founding Chair of the Board and President of the regional Bow Valley Chamber of Commerce, leading to the initiative to set up Innovate Canmore. He is a member of the Council of the Bow Valley Immigration Partnership, a member of the Board of Directors, Governance Committee and Chair of the Impact Investment Committee of the Banff Canmore Foundation, and a former, long-standing Member of the Board and Treasurer of Rundle Mountain Cycling Club, where he was the recipient of the 2019 Legacy Award for services to the Club. He was also the 2018 recipient of the prestigious Town of Canmore Mayor’s Award for Volunteer Excellence.
Most recently, he has been providing Entrepreneurial Thinking advisory and coaching support to undergraduate and graduate business students at the University of Calgary Haskayne School of Business, Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and is a recipient of the 2024 Recognition Award for his contributions to the Haskayne Entrepreneurial Advising Team. Additionally, he was a co-collaborator in organizing the University’s 2022 Global Business Futures Summit in Canmore.
Brian is a resident of Canmore with an avid interest in outdoor recreation, particularly cycling, hiking and backcountry travel.
