Denys Elliot
Denys Elliot is a Director of Business Development at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), whose portfolio focuses on advanced reactors (AR) and novel clean energy technologies. In his 8 years at CNL, Denys has played a leading role in the development of multiple key initiatives including the Canadian Nuclear Research Initiative (CNRI), the development of CNL’s commercial fusion portfolio, and the establishment of Fusion Fuel Cycles Inc. – a joint venture between CNL and Kyoto Fusioneering that designs and delivers fusion fuel cycle systems for research and commercial purposes.
Denys is responsible for the commercial growth of CNL’s Advanced Reactor, and Hydrogen and Tritium Technologies Directorates. This includes working with Science and Technology (S&T) leadership to determine the overall strategic direction of the Directorates, evaluating commercial investments and partnerships, and engaging with stakeholders from across the industry in both public and private institutions.
Graduating from the University of Waterloo with a master’s degree in political economics, focusing global energy markets, Denys has always been a passionate advocate for nuclear technology. Earlier in his career he was a founding member of the North American Young Generation in Nuclear (NAYGN) Chalk River Chapter and went on to serve as President of the chapter in 2022 when it was selected as Top Chapter in North America. Denys is also an alumnus of the World Nuclear University Summer Institute.
