Douglas Hallett, Ph.D
Founder & Member of the Board
Douglas holds a Ph.D in Biological Sciences from Simon Fraser University and has expertise in earth system science, statistics, forest fire, natural hazards and climate change as a research scientist. He is also a research fellow at the Biogeoscience Institute at the University of Calgary.
With an eye to the future and a keen awareness of following generations, he now works collaboratively with engineers, university researchers and business leaders seeking to advance the Clean Tech space where AI (artificial intelligence) methodology is being applied to disrupt, analyze, optimize and solve various infrastructure challenges.
Douglas leads research and innovation projects funded by industry partners, the Natural Science and Engineering Council of Canada, Mitacs Canada and Alberta Innovates. His leadership and insight have initiated investigations of novel machine learning applications at water treatment facilities where the effects of natural hazards and contaminants of emerging concern can threaten public health and the environment.
A resident of Canmore, Douglas is an avid cyclist on both the road and mountain bike trails and is a former, long standing, Board Member and President of the Rundle Mountain Cycling Club. Additionally he is an avid backcountry skier, trail runner, hiker and paddle boarder.
