George Kim Ph.D
George Kim’s academic background includes a B.Eng. in Metallurgical Engineering from McGill University and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from McGill University. He has worked as a research scientist, marketing manager, and business development manager for a private commercial company and as a research engineer at the Canadian Space Agency (CSA). In May of 2000, George started his own consulting company, Perpetual Technologies.
Since its inception, Perpetual Technologies has received contracts and subcontracts for projects relating to nanostructured coatings from numerous US companies and institutions, including: ExxonMobil; US Office of Naval Research; US Naval Surface Warfare Center – Carderock Division; US Army Research Laboratory; General Electric; Praxair Surface Technologies; University of California (Irvine & Davis) and Rice University.
In addition to providing consulting services in the field of nanostructured coatings, Perpetual Technologies provides technical solutions for industrial and military applications, and supports/coordinates R&D projects. George is currently developing nano-structured coatings/materials for thermal barrier, wear/corrosion, bio-material, and military applications. He has also authored the following textbook chapters:
“Thermal Sprayed Nanostructured Coatings: Applications and Developments” in the Second Edition of Nanostructured Materials
“Processing of nanostructured metal-base coatings by thermal and cold spraying” in Nanostructured Metals and Alloys: Processing, Microstructure and Mechanical Properties
“Thermal spray nanostructured ceramic and metal-matrix composite coatings” in Anti-abrasive Nanocoatings.
George presently resides in Silicon Valley and has a life-long passion for the Korean martial art, Taekwondo, holding a 2nd degree Black Belt.
