Russ Sagert
Russ began his career as a geophysicist with Shell Canada, working for almost 30 years in the oil and gas industry with Schlumberger, IHS, and General Electric, and holding such positions as Business Development Manager for Asia Pacific, Software Portfolio Manager based in Norway, and VP of Energy Software.
Currently Russ works for a global Fortune 500 data services and data management company where he focuses on industrial manufacturing optimization, in a variety of industries including oil and gas, mining, automotive assembly, hi-tech fabrication, and power and utilities.
Russ’ passion is to develop and bring to market impactful solutions for operators of industrial manufacturing plants who are undertaking a Digital Transformation - The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) / Industry 4.0. In this capacity, Russ advises Fortune 100 companies on how to transform and optimize their industrial business processes, leveraging technologies including Cloud computing, IT infrastructure, machine learning, edge data inferencing, blockchain, and other capabilities.
Additionally, Russ has acted as technical advisor and business curator in technology incubation and zone start up divisions, identifying and developing new opportunities. He has been technical and business advisor in over 20 large scale mergers and acquisitions. Russ also has led the development of the patent structure and coverage for these new businesses.
Having a choice to live anywhere in the world, Russ and his wife have settled in Canmore full time where they can enjoy the work/life balance afforded by the area. They enjoy hiking, camping, and skiing.
